3D Names - 100 Days Project

The ‘100 Days Project’ is a platform for anyone to express themselves creatively and develop discipline by doing a creative task each day for 100 days.

I chose to take on this challenge to push myself learn a new (3D) program, whilst surprising my friends with a little gift. I designed 100 names belonging to people that were important to me, in a way that I thought would speak about them or their personality. I had to learn how to model, texture and light the scene which I absolutely loved. I would spend a minimum of 3 hours a day per project, and ending up with 10 sometimes 15 hours a day, especially as I got better and I could see huge improvements with each hour spent – it was ridiculously addictive! Below are a few selects.

This is a dear friend Paul, he is a blue glass collector. Turns out glass texture was pretty hard to re-create!

This is my mum <3 Elena, a chemist engineer. She used to amaze my sister and I as children, with magical science tricks whenever we would visit her lab; she still does this as a grandmother whenever my little one and her cousins go visit!

This is Martin, the head of Motion Design at the first company I worked for as an animator. He taught me so much, fought for me and believed in me during the 3.5 years I was there. Incredibly talented and kind, he’s represented as a ‘gold in the rough’ in my design.

Megan collects eclectic china tea cups. It’s always a pleasure going ’round for tea and not knowing with tea-cup set I’ll get.

Herbert has a little girl, I’ve created some fun spinning tops for him.

Nezzie loves birds and although she doesn’t own any, she loved collecting bird cages, pictures and any bird related items.

This is Marc, my little girl’s daddy. There’s a lot expressed in these designs from his passions and heritage to his interests and career.

Otto Larsen, is a Danish born furniture maker, famous in New Zealand for his mid century style of furniture. Back in the day he used to gift little packs of matches to his customers as a sign of appreciation.
He also happens to be my little girl’s grandpa.

Ryan is a very talented carpenter and joinery maker. He has a little boy who enjoys little wooden toys made by his daddy.

Marc has an amazing man-cave where he hosts pool competitions.

Vasi, an incredible alpine climber has been representing Romania in Nepalese alpine expeditions in recent years.

Mani builds roads and bridges.
